Kablan ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered DIY repair guidance platform. Operated by Kablan Labs. For all data-controller, privacy, and rights requests, contact us at privacy@kablan.net. Postal correspondence may be sent to our trading address on request.
What data we collect
- Account information: email address, password (hashed), account role
- Profile information: name, phone, address, city, state, zip code
- Chat data: repair questions, AI responses, uploaded photos
- Usage data: repair topics, difficulty ratings
- Technical data: IP address, browser type, server logs
How we use your data
- To provide the AI repair guidance service
- To manage your account and authenticate you
- To send transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets)
- To send marketing updates, if you have opted in
Legal basis (GDPR)
We process your data on the basis of contract performance (to provide the service), legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention), and consent (marketing emails, non-essential cookies).
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, plus a 30-day grace period after deletion. Chat history is retained for 2 years from last activity. See our Cookie Policy for browser storage details.
Your rights
Under GDPR and applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data (download from your account page)
- Delete your account and data (from your account page)
- Correct inaccurate data
- Object to processing or withdraw consent
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (ICO: ico.org.uk)
California Privacy Rights (CCPA / CPRA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100–1798.199), California residents have specific rights regarding their personal information.
Categories of personal information collected
- Identifiers: email address, name, phone number, IP address
- Personal records: postal address, city, state, zip code
- Internet or other electronic network activity: browser type, server logs, repair chat history
- Geolocation data: city/state derived from profile; precise location only if voluntarily provided
- Inferences drawn from the above: repair topic interests, difficulty preference
Sensitive personal information
We process the content of your repair chat conversations, which may contain information about your home, its condition, and your location. We do not use this information for advertising inference.

Categories of third parties data is shared with
- OpenAI (AI processing) - under a data processing agreement
- Resend (transactional email) - under a data processing agreement
- Vercel / Neon (hosting and database) - under data processing agreements
Kablan does not sell or share personal information with third parties for monetary consideration or cross-context behavioural advertising.
